Automatic screenplay formatting
Scene headings, action, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions,
pagination, and Hollywood / Asian format stay in the right shape while you write.
Laper knows why screenwriters hate generative AI. That’s why this AI script writer only helps where writers actually want it.
AI screenplay formatting, structure visualization, and script-derived production entities
stay connected to the same draft from the first scene heading.
Scene headings, action, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions,
pagination, and Hollywood / Asian format stay in the right shape while you write.
Ask AI to inspect the current focus, outline, selected scene, range, node, or bounded full draft.
Tool calls operate on screenplay nodes and storyboard context instead of blind text.
Scenes, characters, and locations are derived from the screenplay source,
then shown as outline, cards, tables, and production canvases.
Loro CRDT sync keeps writers, directors, and producers working on one project state,
with script history, saved versions, and collaboration tools around the draft.
Character portraits, location references, prop images, scene stills, and storyboard frames
land in project Assets and stay attached to the entities that requested them.
Character cues become project entities, then move into boards,
relationship graphs, and casting views without duplicate data.
Select a scene and let Laper prepare shot structure, prompts,
and storyboard frames while keeping the scene script as context.
Scenes and locations come from the script; beats and props live beside them
as first-class planning entities for development and pre-production.
“Tried a lot of AI screenwriting software. Laper is the first one that fixes the format without “fixing” my voice.
Spent tonight writing the scene instead of fighting margins. Keeping this one.

“Most AI screenwriting software is in a hurry to write for me.
Laper reads the full draft, tracks character pressure, and points to the beat that stopped working.
It still leaves the pen in my hand.
This is the version of AI I actually wanted.

“Laper is the first AI screenwriting software that actually changed how I rewrite.
The structure view exposed my dead middle in five minutes. I knew exactly which scene to cut. Ridiculously useful.

“Finally, AI screenwriting software our whole writers’ room can use without asking which draft is real.
One script, live comments, the same AI diagnosis. Monday sync got forty minutes shorter.

“As a writer-director, I wanted AI screenwriting software that survives past FADE OUT.
Laper carries characters, scenes, and production references forward from the script. That handoff is genuinely excellent.

Laper does not write the story for you. It maps the outline, reads the scenes that matter,
then diagnoses structure, motivation, pacing, and scene-level problems.
Ask the AI Script Doctor to map the draft, inspect load-bearing scenes, and return
prioritized notes by scene, character, conflict, and theme.

A LETTER
To you, who just chose to trust Laper
Hi — to you, who just chose to trust Laper,
I'm Zhao, CEO of Laper Inc.
A few words about myself. Years ago I was a screenwriter — an unsuccessful one. Then I became a developer and built many projects, big and small — still unsuccessful. When AI came, I made a few apps that did okay, enough to fund a start.
And then came all of this. I gave everything to building Laper.ai.
Because I was once a screenwriter, I know what AI should and shouldn't do. I know the format and the details of a script, and the blueprint a writer holds in their mind for a story. Laper's only goal is to make that blueprint visible — not to take the story out of your hands.
Laper aims to do all the pre-production work for every film that might one day be made. It serves the part of writing that AI can never reach — because writing comes from the deepest feelings of the human heart.
Our users always work at night. It reminds me of my own days as a writer. Maybe one day a film of mine will reach the screen — and then, Laper will be free for you, forever. I know that to get there, I have to take good care of every one of you on the other side of the screen.
Laper moves fast — we ship around twenty improvements almost every week. With you using it, it will become the best screenplay editor there is.
Thank you again for your trust. May you, one day, finish that great script of yours.

Laper keeps one editable screenplay at the center, then lets AI work with the exact scene, character, beat, or range the writer chooses.
Read scenes, characters, beats, and selected context as structure—not a wall of text.
Diagnose, suggest, and generate inside an explicit scope chosen by the screenwriter.
The editable screenplay remains the source of truth before, during, and after every AI action.
