Export scripts and outlines
Select episodes, choose a screenplay convention, and export only the formats Laper currently supports.
Choose what to export
Open Export from the project actions. Choose Script or Outline, then select one or more episodes. When several episodes are selected, Laper merges them in the order shown in the export selection. Review that order before generating the file.
Supported formats
Script export supports two presentation conventions:
| Content | Convention | File formats |
|---|---|---|
| Script | Hollywood | PDF, DOCX, TXT, FDX |
| Script | Asian | PDF, DOCX, TXT |
| Outline | Not screenplay-formatted | PDF, DOCX, TXT |
Fountain export is not currently available. FDX export is available for Hollywood script output, not for outlines or Asian output.
Prepare a clean delivery
- Confirm episode names and selected order.
- Check the project title and screenplay format.
- Inspect scene headings and character cues; exports can only preserve structure that exists in the editor.
- Generate the file and open it in the target application.
- Keep a PDF as a stable visual reference when exchanging an editable DOCX or FDX.
Export availability can depend on membership and project permissions. A Viewer can export only when the project owner allows Viewer export in the sharing configuration. If the control is unavailable, verify both your role and the project's access setting.
Export is a snapshot, not synchronization
Editing an exported file does not update the Laper project. Importing FDX creates a new project rather than merging changes back into an existing document. Use collaboration for live work, version history for checkpoints, and exports for delivery or external review.
